STONE WASH PROCESS

The stone used in stone wash known as pumice stone that contains the air pockets. I.c this stone is perforated. These are collected from volcanoes Explosion. At first it is soft when the materials come in cool. It seems to like solid form i.c it seems to like stone with ruffed surface. They float on water. They are irregular shaped like small, medium and large. Because of having irregular surface on it a rubbing action is introduced during washing between fabric and stone. As a result dyes or pigment are stain, fading effect is creating and making the garments more soft. Of the stones used big stones will give abrasion. Small stones mild abrasion. However big stones may damage the garments. If made of light weight fabric or fabric of weak construction.

PUMICE STONE

 OBJECT OF STONE WASHING- 

·         To remove dust, dirt, oil spot, impurities from the garments.

·         To create or produce irregular fading or old looking affect on garments.

·         To achieve the high low abrasion (stone affect) on garment and seam abrasion in sewing area.

·         For soft felling to wear the garments i.e to improve softness.

·         To achieve the buyer reference sample/washing standard.

STONE WASH EFFECT

Washing procedure of stone wash.

      1^st step (Desizing i.c. Pretreatment.)

A lot size of 100 kg garments considered.

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Load the washing machine with water at the rate of liquor ratio 1:5 (500L)

Start the machine running.

Add desizing agent to the liquor at the rate of 3 gm/l(1.5kg).

Start steam supply to raise temperature up to 60°C.

Continue process for 20min.

Drop the liquor.                               

                                      2^nd step(hot wash)

A lot size of 100 kg garment considered.

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Load the washing machine with water at the rate of liquor ratio 1:5 (500L).

Start the machine running.

Start steam supply to raise temperature up to 40 c.

Continue process for 5 min.

Drop the liquor.

3^rd step (stone wash)

A lot size of 100 kg garment required.

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Load the washing machine with water at the rate of liquor ratio 1:5 (500L).

Start the machine running.

Add bleaching powder “Ca(OCl)Cl”to the liquor ratio at the rate of 4%(4kg).

Add soda ash to the liquor at the rate of 8% (8kg).

Add pumice stone ½ of the volume of the garments.

Continue process for 20-40 min.

Drop the liquor.   

STONE WASH

4^th step (hot wash)

A lot size of 100 kg garment considered.

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Load the washing machine with water at the rate of liquor ratio 1:5 (500L).

Add detergent to the liquor at the rate of 1% (1kg).

Start steam supply to raise temperature up to 40 °c.

Continue process for 5 min.

Drop the liquor.

                                   

5^th step (Neutral wash)

A lot size of 100 kg garment considered.

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Add acetic acid tio the liquor at the rate of 2 ml /L (1L).

Continue process for 5 min.

Drop the liquor.

 

If the requirement is of better soft feeling: -

Load the washing machine with 100kg garment.

Load the washing with water at the liquor ratio 1:5 (500L).

Start the machine running.

Add softener to the liquor at the rate of 0.5% (500 gm).

Continue process for 10 min.

Drop the liquor.

                                        

6^th step (Hydro extraction)

After drop the liquor the washed garment turn to hydro extractor to remove excess water from the garment.

 

7^th step(drying)

After hydro extracted the garments turns to drying machine for better drying.

Load 40 Kg garments.

Temperature-75° to 85°c.

Time – 35 to 40 minutes in hot dry, 10 minutes in cold dry.

 After dryer the garments to the quality section for quality checking then ready for the delivery.
